Vesta, a leader in international payments and risk solutions, is looking to grow its executive team.

Based in Atlanta, the SVP of Business Development and Strategy will be the member of Vesta's Senior Leadership Team responsible for leading activities that will strengthen Vesta's competitive position and drive growth and value creation over the long term. The SVP of Corporate Development and Strategy is expected to provide thought leadership to the Vesta's Senior Leadership Team and the broader Enterprise by proactively identifying, surfacing, and framing potential strategic opportunities for Vesta. This individual's portfolio will consist of the following elements:

  1. Business development;
  2. Corporate development; and
  3. Corporate strategy

Business Development

This individual will work with senior management to identify candidates who could become strong channel partners for Vesta's suite of payments and risk solutions.  This individual will initiate discussions with such candidates and orchestrate a process that leads to the consummation of mutually beneficial relationships with business partners.   The objective of such activities will be the creation of a strong set of business partners who will resell Vesta's solutions to customers in markets that Vesta can or will not sell directly.

Corporate Development

Using the corporate strategy as a guiding framework, this individual will work with senior management to identify acquisition and/or strategic partnership candidates who could improve Vesta's competitive position.  This individual will initiate discussions with such candidates and orchestrate a process that leads to the consummation of mutually beneficial transactions.   The objective of such activities will be the enhancement of Vesta's market reach, scope of portfolio offerings and/or value proposition.

Corporate Strategy

Working with the CEO, COO & CFO, this individual will develop, utilize and maintain a best-in-class approach to strategic planning for the organization. The objective of such activities will be the development and maintenance of an overall corporate strategy of record that will be shared with the Board of Directors and updated annually.  The corporate strategy will include, but not be limited to, an articulation of the following elements:

  1. Mission
  2. Market Description and Opportunity
  3. Vesta's Offerings/Solutions
  4. Vesta's Value Proposition
  5. Vesta's Sustainable Competitive Advantage
  6. Top three actionable strategies for growth
  7. Top three actionable strategies for margin improvement

Key Responsibilities of This Role Include:

  • Actively oversee and participate in the development of robust, logical, and actionable strategies to further Vesta's strategic objectives
  • Work with technical leadership and internal Clients (e.g., Officers, Executives) to develop strategies that are logically structured, grounded in data, and provide an opportunity for disruption and/or differentiation in the marketplace
  • Oversee the development competitive and market analysis and research to inform innovative, industry-leading strategies, development and/or initiatives
  • Proactively identify market trends, changes in competitive landscape, and new regulatory conditions that create emerging opportunities or disrupt Vesta's strategic positioning
  • Collaborate with Solution leaders and Finance to ensure Vesta is investing in and creating market-leading, differentiated products and value propositions
  • Develop cascading communications plans from Executive Team to line level to ensure high-level strategic plan is understood
  • Oversee execution of M&A activities and integration of acquired businesses
  • Advocate and communicate corporate strategy within the company
  • Lead the sourcing, evaluation and development of the strategic rationale for specific opportunities
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and analytical rigor to important business decisions
  • Conduct internal and external strategic assessments to keep up-to-date on industry, market, and competitive activities and trends


Skills / Experience Requirements

  • 15 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience leading business development, corporate strategy, strategic planning and portfolio management functions, working with leaders at the business unit and corporate levels
  • Track record of establishing effective, mutually beneficial partnerships with corporate partners
  • M&A and deal-making background with experience in deal sourcing, cultivating relationships with target companies, due diligence, modeling, negotiating and closing transactions and post-merger integration management activities

Technical/Hard Skills

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and critical thinking skills
  • Superior financial modeling skills
  • Strong project management experience with a track record of delivering a quality outcome/product on time


  • Outstanding written and oral communicator
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate complex ideas with people at all levels in an organization
  • Experience with developing and delivering effective C-level and Board level presentations
  • Experience interacting and navigating across a matrixed organization, in particular at a C-Suite level

Education Requirements

  • BS/BA mandatory
  • MBA or similar relevant degree strongly preferred
